Frozen Bubbles

Into the second week of February, we settled in under the Polar Vortex that covered the entire province. We experienced an unrelenting extreme cold warning that lasted NINE consecutive days. Temperatures hovered around -26 to -40 Celsius with windchills up to -48 to -51 Celsius. Numerous cold records were set during this week in Alberta.

Due to the extreme windchill factor there was little to do outdoors, other than the absolute neccessities. I attempted to photograph freezing bubbles during this week.

I was only able to attempt the freezing bubbles for a few minutes at a time as freezing fingers and cheeks drove me back into the warmth of the house quickly.

I chose to photograph the freezing bubbles at sunrise and sunset in an attempt to bring the wonderful winter light that filters through the pines into the images.
